I think it's awesome that Tengen is back making NES games in 2024! And if this is the first of more to come it seems like a strong start, can't wait to see what else you cook up!
I haven't tested it on RetroFreak in particular, but looking through their firmware updates, I'm not sure their NES emulator has received significant updates since 2016 (I could be wrong); it's very possible it doesn't support mapper 30. The majority of modern NES emulators should give you no issues running Zed and Zee unless they're based on old code.
It seems like John NESS doesn't support mapper 30, which is used by a lot of aftermarket NES games (including Zed and Zee). I tried that emulator with another mapper 30 game and received the error you described.
RetroArch is free on the Google Play Store and includes multiple emulator options that work with mapper 30 games like Zed and Zee!

QUestion about the windows version. It didn't have an uninstaller so is it safe to just delete the files manually? Is there anything in the registry?
Yes, you can just delete the installed files.

I tried loading this on the RetroFreak (with current firmware) and am just getting a gray screen when i boot it up.
It appears others are having issues with certain emulators as well. Will have to try a different emu to see if I can get it running.

is anyone else having issues where the .nes will not load in an emulator?
I am trying to play it on John NES on android. It recognizes it as a NES rom but, when I try and load the game it states "failed to open game file"
And suggestions are appreciated.

There are six worlds with six levels and a boss battle each, so 42 total!

Hey guys, does the rom work in an N8 Pro on real hardware? All I care about is a digital rom for my NES.
Zed and Zee has been tested and confirmed to work in an Everdrive-N8. It hasn't been specifically tested in the Pro model but should work!
